Leho Karin was born on May 15, 1985, in Tallinn, Estonia. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a conductor and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Karin showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Karin's parents recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with renowned Estonian pianist, Kalle Randalu, and quickly became one of his star pupils. Karin's talent was evident from the start, and he won his first piano competition at the age of six. As Karin grew older, he continued to excel in his musical studies. He attended the Tallinn Music High School, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Ivari Ilja. During this time, Karin won numerous awards and competitions, including the Estonian National Piano Competition and the International Young Pianists Competition in Tallinn. After completing his studies at the Tallinn Music High School, Karin went on to study at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. There, he studied under the tutelage of Professor Peep Lassmann and graduated with honors in 2008. Following his graduation, Karin began to establish himself as a professional pianist. He performed extensively throughout Estonia and quickly gained a reputation as one of the country's most talented young musicians. In 2010, he was invited to perform at the prestigious La Roque d'Anthéron International Piano Festival in France, where he received critical acclaim for his performance. Karin's success continued to grow, and he was invited to perform at some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Carnegie Hall in New York. He also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. Throughout his career, Karin has received numerous awards and accolades for his performances. In 2012, he was awarded the Estonian Music Council's Young Musician of the Year award, and in 2014, he was awarded the Estonian Cultural Endowment's Annual Music Award. Karin's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the world's greatest composers, including Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, and has been praised for his ability to capture the essence of Pärt's minimalist style. In addition to his performing career, Karin is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and has given masterclasses throughout Europe and Asia. Despite his success, Karin remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to push himself to new heights and is always looking for ways to improve his playing. His passion for music is evident in every performance, and he is widely regarded as one of the most talented pianists of his generation.
