The Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México, also known as the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra, is a renowned classical music ensemble based in Mexico City, Mexico. The orchestra was founded in 1978 by the Mexican conductor Enrique Bátiz, who served as its music director until 2011. The Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México is composed of over 100 musicians, including strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. The ensemble has a reputation for its high level of musicianship and its commitment to performing a wide range of classical music repertoire, from Baroque to contemporary. One of the highlights of the orchestra's early years was its performance at the 1982 World Cup in Spain, where it played for an audience of over 100,000 people.
