Trio Carlo Van Neste is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015. The trio is named after the Belgian violinist and pedagogue Carlo Van Neste, who was a renowned performer and teacher in the 20th century. The ensemble consists of three members: violinist Jolente De Maeyer, cellist Kacper Nowak, and pianist Nikolaas Kende. Jolente De Maeyer was born in Belgium in 1984 and began playing the violin at the age of four. She studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and later at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo. She has won numerous awards and competitions, including the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. Kacper Nowak was born in Poland in 1988 and began playing the cello at the age of six. He studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany. He has won several awards and competitions, including the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria and the International Cello Competition in Liezen, Austria. Nikolaas Kende was born in Belgium in 1987 and began playing the piano at the age of six. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany. He has won several awards and competitions, including the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The trio first performed together in 2015 and quickly gained recognition for their dynamic and expressive performances. They have performed at major concert halls and festivals throughout Europe, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Philharmonie de Paris, and the Festival de Wallonie in Belgium. One of the highlights of the trio's career was their performance at the 2017 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. They were invited to perform as part of the competition's chamber music round, and their performance was praised for its technical precision and emotional depth. The trio was awarded the Audience Prize for their performance, which is a testament to their ability to connect with audiences through their music. In addition to their performances, Trio Carlo Van Neste is also committed to education and outreach. They have conducted masterclasses and workshops for young musicians in Belgium and Germany, and they have also performed in hospitals and nursing homes as part of their efforts to bring classical music to a wider audience.
