Laura Frautschi is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist and chamber musician. Born in New York City in 1974, Frautschi grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. Her mother was a pianist and her father was a composer, so it was only natural that she would develop a love for music. Frautschi began playing the violin at the age of three and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She studied with renowned violinists such as Dorothy DeLay and Itzhak Perlman, and went on to attend the Juilliard School, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music. Throughout her career, Frautschi has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors, including Lorin Maazel, Christoph Eschenbach, and Leonard Slatkin. One of Frautschi's most notable performances was her debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2001, where she performed the Violin Concerto by Samuel Barber. The performance was widely praised by critics, who noted Frautschi's technical skill and emotional depth. In addition to her work as a soloist, Frautschi is also a dedicated chamber musician. She is a founding member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's CMS Two program, which is designed to support and promote young chamber musicians. She has also performed with many other chamber music ensembles, including the Guarneri Quartet and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Frautschi has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 1998, she was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to young musicians who show exceptional promise. She has also been a recipient of the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, which provides financial support to young musicians. In addition to her performing career, Frautschi is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at the Juilliard School, the Mannes College of Music, and the New England Conservatory of Music. She is currently on the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Frautschi is known for her passionate and expressive playing, as well as her technical skill and attention to detail.
