Oslo Kammerakademi is a classical music ensemble based in Oslo, Norway. The ensemble was founded in 2006 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to create a new and innovative approach to classical music performance. The founding members of Oslo Kammerakademi were violinist and artistic director David Coucheron, cellist Andreas Brantelid, and pianist Christian Ihle Hadland. The ensemble has since expanded to include a rotating cast of musicians, with a core group of around 10 members. Oslo Kammerakademi has gained a reputation for its dynamic and engaging performances, which often feature a mix of classical repertoire and contemporary works. The ensemble has collaborated with a range of artists, including jazz musicians, dancers, and visual artists, to create unique and immersive performances. One of the highlights of Oslo Kammerakademi's career was their performance at the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, where they played a specially commissioned piece by Norwegian composer Ståle Kleiberg. The ensemble has also performed at major festivals and venues around the world, including the Edinburgh International Festival, the Bergen International Festival, and the Wigmore Hall in London. In addition to their live performances, Oslo Kammerakademi has released several critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, "Divertimenti," was released in 2009 and featured works by Mozart, Britten, and Bartók. The ensemble's 2015 album, "Reflections," was a collaboration with jazz pianist Bugge Wesseltoft and featured a mix of classical and jazz compositions. Oslo Kammerakademi has received numerous awards and accolades for their work. In 2011, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious Norwegian Grammy Award (Spellemannprisen) for their album "Mozart: String Quintets." The ensemble has also been recognized for their innovative approach to classical music performance, receiving the Norwegian Critics' Association's Special Prize in 2013. Despite their success, Oslo Kammerakademi remains committed to their mission of bringing classical music to new audiences and breaking down barriers between different genres of music. The ensemble continues to experiment with new forms of performance and collaboration, and their innovative approach has made them one of the most exciting and dynamic classical music ensembles in the world today.
