St. Petersburg Musical Theatre Zazerkalye Chamber Orchestra is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with its exceptional performances for over three decades. The orchestra was founded in 1989 by conductor and artistic director Anatoly Levin, who envisioned creating a chamber orchestra that would showcase the best of Russian classical music. The ensemble comprises some of the most talented musicians in Russia, many of whom are graduates of the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory. The orchestra's main members include violinists Alexander Kiskachi, Dmitry Karpov, and Olga Kiskachi; violist Alexander Kiskachi; cellist Dmitry Khrychev; and pianist Natalia Kiskachi. Since its inception, the St. Petersburg Musical Theatre Zazerkalye Chamber Orchestra has performed extensively throughout Russia and internationally, earning critical acclaim for its virtuosity and musicality. The ensemble has collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors and soloists, including Valery Gergiev, Yuri Bashmet, and Maxim Vengerov. One of the orchestra's most notable performances was its 1991 debut at the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, where it received a standing ovation for its rendition of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings. The ensemble has also performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Carnegie Hall in New York. In addition to its live performances, the St. Petersburg Musical Theatre Zazerkalye Chamber Orchestra has released several critically acclaimed recordings, including its 1995 album of works by Mozart and Haydn, which was praised for its "exquisite playing" and "impeccable musicianship." Over the years, the ensemble has received numerous awards and accolades for its contributions to classical music. In 1993, it was awarded the prestigious St. Petersburg City Prize for its outstanding achievements in the arts. The orchestra has also been recognized by the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Russian Academy of Arts for its contributions to the cultural heritage of Russia.
