He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Knowles showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Knowles received his formal music education at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires. During his time at the academy, Knowles won numerous awards and accolades, including the prestigious Royal Academy of Music Bach Prize. After completing his studies, Knowles began performing professionally, quickly establishing himself as one of the most talented and sought-after pianists of his generation. He made his debut at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2008, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the London Symphony Orchestra. Knowles has since performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors of our time, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Riccardo Muti. One of Knowles' most memorable performances was his rendition of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 2012. The performance was hailed by critics as "spellbinding" and "mesmerizing," and it cemented Knowles' reputation as one of the greatest interpreters of Rachmaninoff's music. Knowles has also made a name for himself as a chamber musician, performing with some of the world's leading string quartets and other ensembles. He has collaborated with the Emerson String Quartet, the Takács Quartet, and the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet, among others. In addition to his performances, Knowles is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Conservatoire de Paris. He is also a regular mentor at the Verbier Festival Academy, where he works with young musicians from around the world. Knowles has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the Gramophone Award for Best Instrumental Recording in 2014 for his album of Schumann's piano works. He was also named a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in 2016, in recognition of his contributions to the field of classical music. Despite his many accomplishments, Knowles remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and teach around the world, inspiring audiences and young musicians alike with his passion and artistry.More....
