Donato di Stefano was born on May 12, 1985, in Naples, Italy. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a singer. From a young age, Donato showed a natural talent for music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. Donato began his musical education at the age of six, studying piano with his father. He quickly progressed and started performing in public at the age of eight. By the time he was ten, he had already won several local competitions and was gaining recognition as a prodigy. At the age of twelve, Donato was accepted into the prestigious Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella in Naples, where he studied piano, composition, and conducting. He excelled in all three areas and graduated with top honors at the age of eighteen. After graduation, Donato began his professional career as a pianist, performing in concerts and recitals throughout Italy and Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso pianist, known for his technical skill and emotional depth. This performance marked the beginning of Donato's international career, and he soon became a sought-after soloist, performing with orchestras around the world. In 2008, Donato released his first album, a collection of works by Chopin. The album received critical acclaim and was a commercial success, selling over 100,000 copies in its first year. Donato's second album, released in 2010, featured works by Liszt and was also well-received. In addition to his career as a pianist, Donato is also an accomplished composer and conductor. He has written several works for piano, orchestra, and chamber ensembles, and his compositions have been performed by orchestras around the world. As a conductor, Donato has led several orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. Throughout his career, Donato has received numerous awards and honors. In 2012, he was awarded the prestigious International Classical Music Award for Best Solo Instrumental Performance for his recording of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2.
