She was the daughter of a famous Polish composer, conductor, and pianist, Bolesław Woytowicz, who was a significant influence on her musical career. Lukomska began her musical training at a young age, studying piano and voice at the State Music School in Warsaw. She later continued her studies at the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, where she received a degree in vocal performance. In 1962, Lukomska made her professional debut as a soloist with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Mozart's "Exsultate, jubilate." Her performance was met with critical acclaim, and she quickly became recognized as one of the most promising young vocalists in Poland. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Lukomska performed extensively throughout Europe, appearing in major opera houses and concert halls in Germany, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom. She was particularly renowned for her interpretations of Mozart, Handel, and Bach, and her performances were praised for their technical precision and emotional depth. In 1973, Lukomska made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, performing the role of the Queen of the Night in Mozart's "The Magic Flute." Her performance was a resounding success, and she quickly became a favorite of audiences and critics alike. Over the course of her career, Lukomska received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to classical music. In 1975, she was awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta, one of the highest honors bestowed by the Polish government. She was also a recipient of the Medal for Merit to Culture, awarded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. In addition to her work as a performer, Lukomska was also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young musicians. She served as a professor of vocal performance at the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, where she inspired and guided generations of aspiring singers. Lukomska's career was tragically cut short in 1990, when she was diagnosed with cancer. Despite her illness, she continued to perform and teach, inspiring those around her with her courage and determination. She passed away on December 7, 1990, at the age of 50.
