Julie Triquet is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist and chamber musician. Born in Montreal, Canada, in 1981, Triquet showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. This musical environment helped to nurture Triquet's talent and passion for music. Triquet's early musical education was at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where she studied with Jean Angers. She later went on to study at the Université de Montréal, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree. Triquet then continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, Germany, where she studied with Ulf Wallin and completed a Master of Music degree. Triquet's career as a professional musician began in 2005 when she joined the Cecilia String Quartet. The quartet quickly gained recognition for their exceptional musicianship and were awarded the Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2010. This win helped to launch Triquet's career and led to numerous performances and collaborations with other musicians. In addition to her work with the Cecilia String Quartet, Triquet has also performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre Métropolitain, and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. She has also been a guest artist at numerous music festivals, including the Ottawa Chamberfest, the Festival de Lanaudière, and the Festival de musique de chambre de Montréal. One of Triquet's most notable performances was her solo debut with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal in 2012. She performed the Violin Concerto No. 1 by Dmitri Shostakovich, which was met with critical acclaim. The Montreal Gazette praised Triquet's performance, stating that "her playing was technically flawless, but it was the emotional depth and intensity that really stood out." Triquet has also been recognized for her contributions to the classical music world. In 2013, she was awarded the Prix Opus for Performer of the Year by the Conseil québécois de la musique. This award is given to musicians who have made a significant contribution to the music scene in Quebec. Triquet was also awarded the Virginia Parker Prize by the Canada Council for the Arts in 2014. This prize is given to young Canadian musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. In addition to her work as a performer, Triquet is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at the University of Ottawa and the University of Toronto, and has given masterclasses at various institutions around the world. Triquet is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with the next generation of musicians. Triquet's musical style is characterized by her technical precision and emotional depth. She is known for her ability to convey the emotional nuances of a piece through her playing, and for her exceptional control over the violin. Her performances are often described as powerful and moving, and she has been praised for her ability to connect with audiences on a deep level. In recent years, Triquet has continued to perform and collaborate with other musicians. She has also been involved in various recording projects, including the Cecilia String Quartet's album of the complete string quartets of Felix Mendelssohn.
