The Zürich Radio Symphony Orchestra (ZRSO) is a classical music ensemble based in Zürich, Switzerland. The orchestra was founded in 1938 as the orchestra of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation, and has since become one of the most renowned orchestras in Europe. The ZRSO has had many notable conductors throughout its history, including Hermann Scherchen, Otto Ackermann, and Rafael Kubelik. The current principal conductor is Lionel Bringuier, who has been with the orchestra since 2014. The ZRSO has a core of around 80 musicians, and performs a wide range of classical music, from the Baroque era to contemporary works. The orchestra has a particular focus on the music of Swiss composers, and has premiered many new works by Swiss composers over the years. One of the highlights of the ZRSO's history was its performance at the 1956 Lucerne Festival, where it played under the baton of Rafael Kubelik.
