Artist Info
Trio Owon is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by three talented musicians, pianist Won Hee Lee, violinist Won Hyung Lee, and cellist Won-sik Kim. The ensemble's name, "Owon," is a combination of the first syllable of each member's last name. The three musicians first met while studying at the Juilliard School in New York City. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form a trio. Despite their busy schedules, they made time to rehearse and perform together, and soon began to attract attention for their exceptional musicianship and dynamic performances. Trio Owon's repertoire includes a wide range of classical music, from the Baroque era to the present day. They are particularly known for their interpretations of works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Shostakovich, as well as lesser-known composers such as Dvorak and Ravel. One of the highlights of Trio Owon's career was their performance at the 2014 Seoul Spring Festival of Chamber Music. The festival, which is one of the most prestigious classical music events in South Korea, features performances by some of the world's most renowned musicians. Trio Owon's performance was widely praised for its technical precision and emotional depth, and helped to establish the ensemble as one of the rising stars of the classical music world. In addition to their performance at the Seoul Spring Festival, Trio Owon has also performed at numerous other prestigious venues and events around the world. They have appeared at the Lincoln Center in New York City, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Wigmore Hall in London, among others. They have also been featured on radio and television programs in the United States and South Korea. Trio Owon has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances. In 2013, they were awarded the first prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, one of the most prestigious chamber music competitions in the United States. They have also been awarded the top prize at the Coleman Chamber Music Competition and the Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition. Despite their success, Trio Owon remains committed to their craft and to each other. They continue to rehearse and perform together regularly, and are always looking for new ways to challenge themselves and push the boundaries of classical music. With their exceptional musicianship and dynamic performances, Trio Owon is sure to remain a force in the classical music world for years to come.More....
