The Telegraph Quartet is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their unique sound and exceptional performances since their founding in 2013. The quartet is made up of violinists Eric Chin and Joseph Maile, violist Pei-Ling Lin, and cellist Jeremiah Shaw. The Telegraph Quartet was founded in San Francisco, California, where the members met while studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Since their founding, the Telegraph Quartet has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center, and the Chautauqua Institution. They have also been featured on numerous radio programs, including NPR's Performance Today and WQXR's Young Artists Showcase. One of the highlights of the Telegraph Quartet's career was their performance at the 2016 Naumburg International Violin Competition, where they were awarded the grand prize. This competition is one of the most prestigious in the world, and the Telegraph Quartet's win solidified their place as one of the most talented and promising young ensembles in the classical music world. In addition to their win at the Naumburg International Violin Competition, the Telegraph Quartet has also been recognized with numerous other awards and honors. They were the recipients of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2020, which is awarded to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for a career in classical music. They have also been awarded the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition Grand Prize, the Plowman Chamber Music Competition Grand Prize, and the WDAV Young Chamber Musicians Competition Grand Prize, among others. The Telegraph Quartet is known for their innovative programming, which often includes lesser-known works alongside more well-known pieces. They are particularly passionate about performing works by underrepresented composers, including women and people of color. This commitment to diversity and inclusivity has earned them praise from audiences and critics alike. One of the Telegraph Quartet's most notable performances was their 2019 debut album release, "Into the Light."
