Burkard Schliessmann is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with his virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Munich, Germany in 1960, Schliessmann showed an early aptitude for music and began studying piano at the age of six. He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument, and by the time he was a teenager, he had already won several prestigious competitions. Schliessmann's musical education was extensive and rigorous. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, where he received a diploma with distinction, and later at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he earned a Master of Music degree. He also studied with some of the most renowned pianists of the 20th century, including Claudio Arrau, Leon Fleisher, and György Sebők. Throughout his career, Schliessmann has been recognized for his exceptional talent and artistry. He has won numerous awards and competitions, including the International Piano Competition in Senigallia, Italy, the International Piano Competition in Vercelli, Italy, and the International Piano Competition in Jaén, Spain. He has also been awarded the prestigious German Record Critics' Award and the Echo Klassik Award. Schliessmann's performances have taken him to some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Munich Philharmonic. One of Schliessmann's most notable performances was his interpretation of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor" concerto. He performed this piece with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Centre in London, and his performance was widely praised for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. Schliessmann is also known for his interpretations of the works of Franz Liszt, a composer who has been a major influence on his musical style. He has recorded several albums of Liszt's music, including "Liszt: The Complete Piano Music, Vol. 1" and "Liszt: The Complete Piano Music, Vol. 2."
