Artist Info
Role:PerformerLucie Horsch is a Dutch classical music artist who has gained international recognition for her exceptional talent as a recorder player. Born on November 19, 1999, in Amsterdam, Lucie grew up in a family of musicians. Her father, Gregor Horsch, is a cellist and the principal cellist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, while her mother, Petra van der Heide, is a violinist and a member of the same orchestra. Lucie started playing the recorder at the age of five, and it quickly became clear that she had a natural talent for the instrument. She began taking lessons with Walter van Hauwe, a renowned recorder player and teacher, and soon progressed to the point where she was performing in public. At the age of nine, she won the first prize in the national final of the Prinses Christina Competition, a prestigious music competition for young musicians in the Netherlands. Lucie's talent continued to develop, and she soon began to attract attention outside of the Netherlands. In 2012, she was invited to perform at the Early Music Festival in Utrecht, where she gave a solo recital that was widely praised by critics and audiences alike. This performance marked the beginning of Lucie's international career, and she has since gone on to perform at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals. One of the highlights of Lucie's career so far was her performance at the BBC Proms in 2016. She was invited to perform as a soloist with the Academy of Ancient Music, one of the world's leading period-instrument ensembles, and her performance of Vivaldi's Recorder Concerto in C major was widely acclaimed. The Guardian described her playing as "dazzling," while The Times praised her "impeccable technique and musicality." Lucie has also won several awards and prizes for her playing. In 2014, she won the first prize in the International Competition Musica Antiqua in Bruges, Belgium, which is one of the most prestigious competitions for early music in the world. She was also awarded the Prix d'Ambronay, a prize for young musicians given by the Ambronay Cultural Encounter Centre in France, in 2015. In addition to her solo career, Lucie is also a member of the Amsterdam-based ensemble PRJCT Amsterdam, which was founded by her father, Gregor Horsch. The ensemble specializes in performing contemporary music, and Lucie has been praised for her ability to bring a fresh and innovative approach to the recorder in this context. Despite her young age, Lucie has already established herself as one of the leading recorder players of her generation. Her playing is characterized by its technical brilliance, musicality, and sensitivity, and she has been praised for her ability to bring a fresh and modern approach to an instrument that is often associated with the music of the past. With her talent and dedication, it seems likely that Lucie will continue to be a major force in the world of classical music for many years to come.More....
