Period:ContemporaryRusne Mataityte is a Lithuanian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a talented pianist and chamber musician. Born on May 22, 1993, in Vilnius, Lithuania, Rusne showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Her parents, who were both musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Rusne's early musical education was at the National M.K. Ciurlionis School of Arts in Vilnius, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Rasa Vitkauskaite. She later continued her studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance under the guidance of Professor Petras Geniusas. Throughout her studies, Rusne participated in numerous competitions and festivals, winning several awards and prizes. In 2011, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Young Musician" in Vilnius, and in 2013, she was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition "Roma 2013" in Rome, Italy. In 2014, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Citta di Barletta" in Barletta, Italy, and in 2015, she was a finalist at the International Piano Competition "Parnu" in Estonia. Rusne's talent and hard work have also earned her recognition from prestigious institutions and organizations. In 2012, she was awarded a scholarship from the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture, and in 2014, she received a scholarship from the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe. In 2016, she was selected to participate in the prestigious International Holland Music Sessions, where she received masterclasses from renowned pianists such as Boris Berman, Jacques Rouvier, and Menahem Pressler. Rusne's career as a professional musician began in 2015, when she made her debut as a soloist with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3. Since then, she has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in numerous concerts and festivals throughout Europe and Asia. One of Rusne's most notable performances was in 2017, when she performed as a soloist with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra at the prestigious "Vilnius Festival." She performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2, receiving critical acclaim for her virtuosic playing and emotional depth. The same year, she also performed at the "Chopin and His Europe" festival in Warsaw, Poland, where she played Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to her solo performances, Rusne is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including violinist Gidon Kremer, cellist David Geringas, and pianist Andras Schiff. In 2018, she formed the "Trio Vitruvi" with violinist Niklas Walentin and cellist Jacob la Cour, and the trio has since performed in many prestigious venues and festivals throughout Europe. Rusne's repertoire is diverse, ranging from classical to contemporary music. She has a particular affinity for the music of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Schumann, and has recorded several albums featuring their works. Her most recent album, "Chopin: The Complete Nocturnes," was released in 2020 and received critical acclaim for its sensitive and nuanced interpretations.
