He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and began to take lessons from a local teacher. By the time he was a teenager, Bouvrette had already won several local piano competitions and had begun to perform in public. After completing his high school education, Bouvrette decided to pursue a career in music. He enrolled at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist Marc Durand. In 1997, Bouvrette graduated from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal with a degree in piano performance. He then went on to pursue further studies at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of Yoheved Kaplinsky. He made his debut at Carnegie Hall in 2001, where he received critical acclaim for his performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor. Bouvrette's performance was described as "powerful and moving" by The New York Times, and he was hailed as a rising star in the world of classical music.
