Kristina Reiko Cooper is a renowned cellist and chamber musician who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Tokyo, Japan, Cooper began playing the cello at the age of three and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Her family moved to the United States when she was six years old, and she continued her musical studies with some of the country's most esteemed teachers. Cooper's early training included studies with renowned cellists such as Lynn Harrell, Ronald Leonard, and Eleonore Schoenfeld. She also attended the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree. After completing her undergraduate studies, Cooper went on to earn a Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied with Joel Krosnick. Throughout her career, Cooper has been recognized for her exceptional talent and dedication to the art of music. She has won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious Naumburg International Cello Competition, which she won in 2007. This competition is one of the most highly regarded in the classical music world, and winning it is a significant achievement for any young musician. Cooper has also been a featured soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the San Francisco Symphony.
