Tom Chiu is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. He was born in Taiwan and grew up in the United States. From a young age, Chiu showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of five. Chiu's talent was quickly recognized, and he was accepted into the Juilliard School of Music in New York City at the age of 12. He studied under the tutelage of renowned violinist Dorothy DeLay and went on to earn his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music from the school. Throughout his career, Chiu has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with many notable musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, and Joshua Bell. One of Chiu's most significant achievements was founding the Flux Quartet in 1996. The quartet quickly gained recognition for their innovative approach to classical music, and they have since performed at major venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York City. In addition to his work with the Flux Quartet, Chiu has also been involved in numerous other musical projects. He has recorded several albums, including a solo album titled "Violin Power" and a collaboration with composer John Zorn titled "The Classic Guide to Strategy." Chiu's contributions to the world of classical music have not gone unnoticed. He has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming.
