Birth:September 24, 1979Sigrid Plundrich was born on May 12, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Plundrich showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Plundrich's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking private lessons with renowned violinists in Vienna and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional skill. At the age of 12, Plundrich made her debut as a soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3. Plundrich continued to excel in her studies and was accepted into the prestigious Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, where she studied under the guidance of renowned violinist Rainer Kuchl. During her time at the Mozarteum, Plundrich won several awards and competitions, including the International Violin Competition in Salzburg and the Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna. After completing her studies at the Mozarteum, Plundrich began performing as a soloist with orchestras around the world. She quickly gained a reputation for her virtuosic playing and her ability to bring a unique interpretation to classical works. Some of her most notable performances include her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City, where she performed Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and her performance of Beethoven's Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Plundrich has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, and Simon Rattle. She has performed at some of the world's most prestigious music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and the BBC Proms. In addition to her solo career, Plundrich is also a dedicated chamber musician. She has performed with some of the world's most renowned chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Plundrich is also a member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, where she serves as the principal second violinist. Throughout her career, Plundrich has received numerous awards and accolades for her exceptional talent and contributions to classical music. In 2010, she was awarded the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art, one of the highest honors given to artists in Austria. She has also been awarded the Mozart Medal by the Mozarteum University and the Brahms Prize by the Brahms Society of Schleswig-Holstein.
