From a young age, Lefort showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Lefort's musical journey began when he enrolled at the Conservatoire de Paris at the age of ten. He studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer, Nadia Boulanger. Lefort's talent and dedication to music were evident from the beginning, and he quickly became one of Boulanger's most promising students. In 1963, Lefort graduated from the Conservatoire de Paris with top honors. He then went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he continued to hone his skills as a pianist. During his time at Juilliard, Lefort had the opportunity to work with some of the most prominent musicians of the time, including Leonard Bernstein and Vladimir Horowitz. Lefort's career as a professional musician began in the early 1970s when he started performing in concerts across Europe and the United States. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile pianist, capable of playing a wide range of musical styles. Lefort's performances were characterized by his technical proficiency, musical sensitivity, and emotional depth. One of Lefort's most significant performances was at the 1975 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow. The competition was one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world, and Lefort was one of the few non-Russian pianists to be invited to participate.
