He was the youngest of three children and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist, and they both encouraged Nino to pursue music from a young age. Nino began his musical training at the age of six, studying the piano with his mother. He showed great talent and dedication, and by the age of ten, he had already given his first public performance. He continued his studies at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he studied under the guidance of some of the most renowned teachers of the time. In 1955, Nino won first prize in the prestigious Busoni International Piano Competition, which launched his career as a concert pianist. He went on to perform in some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. Throughout his career, Nino was known for his technical brilliance and his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he played. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of the works of Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff, and his recordings of their music remain some of the most highly regarded in the classical music world. In addition to his solo performances, Nino was also a sought-after chamber musician, and he collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians of his time. He was a member of the Trio di Roma, which was one of the most celebrated piano trios of the 20th century, and he also performed with the likes of violinist Yehudi Menuhin and cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. Nino's career was marked by numerous awards and accolades. In addition to his Busoni prize, he won first prize in the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Piano Competition in 1957 and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1962. He was also awarded the prestigious Grand Prix du Disque for his recordings of Chopin's complete works for piano. Despite his success, Nino remained humble and dedicated to his craft throughout his life.
