Camerata Schweiz is a classical music ensemble based in Switzerland. The group was founded in 2003 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The founding members included violinists Sebastian Bohren and Mirjam Tschopp, violist David Schneebeli, cellist Claudius Herrmann, and pianist Simon Bucher. The ensemble quickly gained recognition for their dynamic performances and innovative programming. They have performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Tonhalle Zurich, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Camerata Schweiz has collaborated with some of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Martha Argerich, cellist Sol Gabetta, and violinist Renaud Capuçon. They have also worked with contemporary composers, including Heinz Holliger and Jörg Widmann, to premiere new works. One of the highlights of Camerata Schweiz's career was their performance at the Lucerne Festival in 2007. The ensemble performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 with Martha Argerich as the soloist. The performance was widely praised for its energy and precision, and it helped to establish Camerata Schweiz as one of the leading chamber ensembles in Europe. In 2010, Camerata Schweiz was awarded the Swiss Music Prize, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the country's music scene. The ensemble was praised for their commitment to promoting Swiss music and for their innovative programming. Camerata Schweiz has recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Mozart's Piano Concertos Nos. 20 and 23 with Martha Argerich. They have also recorded works by Swiss composers, including Frank Martin and Arthur Honegger.
