Giselle Hillyer was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Hillyer showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As she grew older, Hillyer became more interested in classical music and began studying the violin. She quickly excelled at the instrument and began performing in local orchestras and competitions. At the age of 12, she won first place in the New York State Music Teachers Association competition. Hillyer continued to study the violin throughout her teenage years and eventually attended the Juilliard School in New York City. There, she studied under some of the most renowned violinists in the world, including Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman. After graduating from Juilliard, Hillyer began her professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. She quickly gained a reputation for her technical skill and emotional depth in her performances. In 2008, she won the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is awarded to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. Over the years, Hillyer has performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Gustavo Dudamel.
