Georgios Demertzis is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact in the world of music. Born on December 12, 1978, in Athens, Greece, Demertzis showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. He was raised in a family of musicians, and his father was a violinist in the Athens State Orchestra. Demertzis received his early music education at the National Conservatory of Athens, where he studied with renowned violinist and pedagogue, Yannis Ioannidis. He later continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany, where he studied with Professor Krzysztof Wegrzyn. Throughout his career, Demertzis has won numerous awards and accolades for his exceptional talent and musicianship. In 1997, he won first prize at the National Violin Competition in Greece, and in 2000, he won the prestigious International Violin Competition "Andrea Postacchini" in Italy. One of the highlights of Demertzis's career was his performance of the complete cycle of Bach's solo violin works at the Athens Concert Hall in 2013. The cycle consists of six sonatas and partitas, and Demertzis's performance was widely acclaimed for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. In addition to his solo performances, Demertzis is also an active chamber musician and has collaborated with some of the world's most renowned musicians, including pianist Martha Argerich, cellist Gautier Capuçon, and violinist Leonidas Kavakos. He is a founding member of the "Aegean String Quartet," which has performed extensively throughout Europe and Asia.
