The Savona Symphony Orchestra is a classical music ensemble based in the city of Savona, Italy. The orchestra was founded in 1997 by a group of local musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to bring high-quality performances to their community. The founding members of the Savona Symphony Orchestra included conductor and violinist Fabio Mastrangelo, cellist Marco Alpi, and pianist Giuseppe Andaloro. Over the years, the orchestra has grown to include over 50 musicians, many of whom are from the Savona area. One of the highlights of the Savona Symphony Orchestra's early years was their performance at the 2000 International Festival of Orchestras in Valencia, Spain. The orchestra received critical acclaim for their performance of works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, and they were invited back to the festival in 2002. In 2003, the Savona Symphony Orchestra performed at the prestigious Teatro alla Scala in Milan, one of the most famous opera houses in the world. The orchestra accompanied soprano Daniela Dessì in a performance of Verdi's "La Traviata," which was broadcast on Italian television. In addition to their performances in Italy and abroad, the Savona Symphony Orchestra is also known for their commitment to education and outreach. The orchestra regularly performs for school groups and hosts workshops and masterclasses for young musicians. Over the years, the Savona Symphony Orchestra has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances. In 2005, they were awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, which is considered one of the highest honors in Italian classical music. The award recognized the orchestra's "outstanding artistic achievements and contributions to the cultural life of Italy." In 2012, the Savona Symphony Orchestra celebrated their 15th anniversary with a special concert featuring works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. The concert was held at the Teatro Chiabrera in Savona and was attended by a sold-out audience. Today, the Savona Symphony Orchestra continues to be a leading classical music ensemble in Italy and beyond. They regularly perform at major concert halls and festivals, and their recordings have been praised for their technical excellence and emotional depth. The orchestra remains committed to their mission of bringing the beauty and power of classical music to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
