Jon Manasse is a renowned clarinetist and one of the most sought-after soloists in the classical music world. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1963, Manasse grew up in a musical family and began playing the clarinet at the age of nine. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and began studying with renowned clarinetist David Weber. Manasse's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly began to make a name for himself in the classical music world. He won numerous competitions and awards, including the prestigious Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 1988. This win launched his career and led to performances with major orchestras around the world. Throughout his career, Manasse has been known for his virtuosic playing and his ability to bring a fresh perspective to classical music. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with some of the most celebrated conductors of our time, including Leonard Slatkin, James Conlon, and Marin Alsop. One of the highlights of Manasse's career was his performance at the 1997 Grammy Awards, where he was a featured soloist with the Boston Pops Orchestra. He has also been a frequent guest on NPR's "Performance Today" and has been featured on numerous recordings, including his critically acclaimed album "Benny Goodman: The Complete RCA Victor Small Group Recordings." In addition to his work as a soloist, Manasse is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Tokyo String Quartet and the Emerson String Quartet. He is also a founding member of the clarinet quartet "The Clarinotts," which includes his wife, pianist Jon Nakamatsu, and two other clarinetists. Manasse is also a dedicated teacher and has served on the faculty of several prestigious music schools, including the Eastman School of Music and the Juilliard School. He is currently a professor of clarinet at the University of Idaho. Throughout his career, Manasse has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 2013, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Clarinet Association, and in 2015 he was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame.
