Alexander Hersh is a young and talented cellist who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born in Chicago in 1990, Hersh grew up in a family of musicians. His father, Stefan Hersh, is a renowned violinist and his mother, Katherine Lee, is a pianist. From a young age, Hersh was exposed to classical music and began playing the cello at the age of four. Hersh's talent was evident from the beginning, and he quickly began to excel in his studies. He attended the Music Institute of Chicago, where he studied with Hans Jørgen Jensen. He later went on to study at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he studied with Paul Katz. Throughout his career, Hersh has won numerous awards and accolades. In 2011, he won first prize in the Society of American Musicians Competition, and in 2012, he won first prize in the New England Conservatory Concerto Competition. He has also been a finalist in the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians and the Johansen International Competition. Hersh has performed with many prestigious orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. He has also performed in many renowned venues, such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of Hersh's most notable performances was his debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2014. He performed the Dvorak Cello Concerto under the baton of conductor Jaap van Zweden. The performance was met with critical acclaim, and Hersh was praised for his technical skill and emotional depth. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Hersh is also an active chamber musician.
