Duo Gazzana is a classical music ensemble consisting of two sisters, Natascia and Raffaella Gazzana, who are both accomplished musicians in their own right. The duo was founded in 2001 and has since become one of the most renowned chamber music ensembles in the world. Natascia and Raffaella Gazzana were born in Turin, Italy, and both began studying music at a young age. Natascia studied violin at the Conservatory of Turin, while Raffaella studied piano at the same institution. Both sisters went on to pursue advanced degrees in music, with Natascia earning a degree in violin performance from the Conservatory of Geneva and Raffaella earning a degree in piano performance from the Conservatory of Turin. The sisters began performing together as Duo Gazzana in 2001, and quickly gained recognition for their exceptional musicianship and unique approach to chamber music. Their repertoire includes works by some of the greatest composers in classical music, including Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert, as well as contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass. One of the highlights of Duo Gazzana's career was their performance at the 2013 BBC Proms, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. The duo performed a program of works by Bach, Glass, and Pärt, and received critical acclaim for their performance. The Guardian called their performance "spellbinding," while The Telegraph praised their "exquisite musicianship." Duo Gazzana has also performed at some of the most renowned concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. They have collaborated with some of the most respected musicians in the classical music world, including violinist Maxim Vengerov and cellist Mario Brunello. In addition to their performances, Duo Gazzana has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, "Pärt: Fratres," was released in 2010 and received widespread praise for its interpretation of the works of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Their second album, "Rêverie," was released in 2013 and featured works by Bach, Glass, and Pärt. Duo Gazzana has received numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In 2012, they were awarded the prestigious Echo Klassik award for their album "Pärt: Fratres." They have also been nominated for several other awards, including the Gramophone Award and the International Classical Music Award. Despite their success, Duo Gazzana remains committed to their craft and to exploring new avenues in classical music. They continue to perform and record together, and are widely regarded as one of the most exciting and innovative chamber music ensembles in the world.More....
