He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a musical family. Blyme began playing the piano at a young age and showed great talent and passion for music. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he received his diploma in piano performance in 1952. After completing his studies, Blyme began his career as a concert pianist, performing extensively throughout Denmark and Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso pianist with a unique style and interpretation of classical music. Blyme was known for his technical precision, expressive playing, and ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he played. Throughout his career, Blyme performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He also collaborated with many renowned conductors, such as Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karajan, and Sir Georg Solti. One of Blyme's most notable performances was his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 1960. He received critical acclaim for his performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, "Emperor," with the New York Philharmonic. The New York Times praised Blyme's "brilliant technique and sensitive musicianship," and he quickly became a favorite among American audiences. Blyme was also a prolific composer, and his works were performed by many leading orchestras and chamber ensembles. His compositions were known for their lyrical melodies, rich harmonies, and innovative use of form and structure.
