Born on May 22, 1987, in Riga, Latvia, Sudraba showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Her parents, both musicians themselves, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Sudraba's early musical education was at the Emils Darzins Music School in Riga, where she studied under the guidance of Professor Arnis Zandmanis. She later continued her studies at the Latvian Academy of Music, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. During her time at the academy, Sudraba also had the opportunity to study with renowned pianists such as Sergei Babayan, Boris Berman, and Andrzej Jasinski. Sudraba's talent as a pianist was quickly recognized, and she began to receive invitations to perform at various concerts and festivals. In 2007, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome, Italy, which marked the beginning of her international career. Since then, Sudraba has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. One of Sudraba's most notable performances was at the 2010 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. She was one of only 84 pianists selected to compete in the prestigious event, which is held every five years. Sudraba's performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor impressed the judges, and she was awarded third prize. Sudraba's repertoire is diverse, ranging from classical to contemporary music. She has a particular affinity for the music of Chopin, and has recorded several of his works, including his complete Nocturnes and Ballades. Sudraba is also a passionate chamber musician, and has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including violinist Gidon Kremer and cellist Mischa Maisky. In addition to her performances, Sudraba is also a dedicated teacher. She has also been awarded the Order of the Three Stars, one of Latvia's highest civilian honors, for her contributions to the arts. Despite her success, Sudraba remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and teach, and is always looking for new ways to challenge herself and grow as a musician. With her talent and passion for music, Sudraba is sure to continue making a name for herself in the world of classical music.More....
