Sally le Sage was born on May 15, 1985, in London, England. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Sally showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Sally attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied piano under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires. During her time at the academy, Sally won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious Royal Academy of Music Bach Prize and the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship. After graduating from the academy, Sally began performing professionally, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. She quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile pianist, with a particular affinity for the works of Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin. One of Sally's most notable performances was at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where she performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the Emperor Concerto, with the London Symphony Orchestra. The performance was widely praised by critics, with one reviewer describing Sally's playing as "exquisite and masterful." Sally has also performed at several other prestigious venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Sydney Opera House. She has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including cellist Yo-Yo Ma and violinist Joshua Bell. In addition to her performances, Sally is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught masterclasses at several music schools and conservatories around the world, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Sally has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career, including the Gramophone Classical Music Award for Best Instrumental Soloist in 2012 and the Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist Award in 2015. She was also appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2018 for her services to music. Despite her success, Sally remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and teach, and is always looking for new ways to challenge herself and grow as a musician. Her passion for music and her commitment to excellence have made her one of the most respected and admired classical pianists of her generation.
