From a young age, Bushkov was exposed to the world of music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Bushkov's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a prodigy. He studied at the Central Music School in Moscow, where he was taught by some of the most renowned violinists of the time, including Yuri Yankelevich and Boris Belenky.
