Greg Beyer is a renowned percussionist, composer, and educator in the field of classical music. He was born on August 22, 1973, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a classical pianist, which exposed him to music at an early age. Beyer began his musical journey by playing the piano at the age of five. However, he soon discovered his passion for percussion instruments and started playing the drums in his school band. He continued to hone his skills in percussion throughout his high school years and went on to study music at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
