FranceLes Paladins is a French classical music ensemble that specializes in performing Baroque and Classical music. The ensemble was founded in 2004 by JĆ©rĆ“me Correas, a French countertenor and conductor. The name "Les Paladins" is derived from the opera of the same name by Jean-Philippe Rameau, which was first performed in 1760. The ensemble's main members include JĆ©rĆ“me Correas, who serves as the artistic director and conductor, and a group of talented musicians who specialize in playing period instruments. These musicians include violinists StĆ©phanie-Marie Degand and Thibault Noally, cellist Atsushi SakaĆÆ, and harpsichordist Christophe Rousset. Les Paladins has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals in Europe, including the Théâtre des Champs-ĆlysĆ©es in Paris, the Salzburg Festival, and the Edinburgh International Festival. The ensemble has also collaborated with some of the world's leading soloists, including mezzo-soprano Ann Hallenberg and countertenor Philippe Jaroussky. One of the highlights of Les Paladins' career was their performance of Handel's opera "Ariodante" at the Salzburg Festival in 2017. The production was directed by Richard Jones and featured a star-studded cast, including mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli and countertenor Christophe Dumaux. The performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, and cemented Les Paladins' reputation as one of the leading Baroque ensembles in the world. In addition to their live performances, Les Paladins has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. These include their debut album, "Les Paladins: Concertos pour violon et cordes," which was released in 2006 and features works by Vivaldi, Telemann, and Handel. The ensemble has also recorded several operas, including Rameau's "Les Indes Galantes" and Handel's "Ariodante." Les Paladins has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In 2010, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious Diapason d'Or for their recording of Rameau's "Les Indes Galantes." They have also been nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Best Opera Recording for their performance of Handel's "Ariodante." Overall, Les Paladins is a world-renowned classical music ensemble that has made a significant contribution to the performance and interpretation of Baroque and Classical music. With their impeccable musicianship and innovative programming, they continue to inspire and delight audiences around the world.More....
