Sylvia Abramowicz was born on May 12, 1985, in Warsaw, Poland. She was born into a family of musicians, and her parents were both professional classical musicians. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Sylvia was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Sylvia's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking piano lessons with her mother and quickly showed a natural aptitude for the instrument. By the age of six, Sylvia was performing in public, and her talent was quickly recognized by the local music community. At the age of ten, Sylvia was accepted into the prestigious Chopin Music School in Warsaw. She studied under some of the best piano teachers in Poland and quickly became known for her technical skill and musicality. She won several local and national competitions and was soon invited to perform in concerts throughout Poland. In 2003, Sylvia was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She moved to the UK and began studying under the renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires. Sylvia's time at the Royal Academy was transformative, and she developed a deeper understanding of music and the piano. She also began to explore other genres of music, including jazz and contemporary classical music. After graduating from the Royal Academy in 2007, Sylvia began performing in concerts throughout Europe. She quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile pianist, and her performances were praised for their technical skill and emotional depth. She won several awards, including the prestigious Chopin Prize in 2009. In 2011, Sylvia was invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of the BBC Proms. Her performance was a huge success, and she received a standing ovation from the audience. She was also invited to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival and the Salzburg Festival. Sylvia's career continued to flourish, and she began to collaborate with other musicians and composers. She worked with the composer Philip Glass on a new piano concerto, which premiered in 2015. She also collaborated with the jazz pianist Brad Mehldau on a series of concerts, which were praised for their innovative approach to classical and jazz music. In 2018, Sylvia released her debut album, which featured works by Chopin, Liszt, and Debussy.
