He showed remarkable progress and was soon performing in public. At the age of ten, he made his debut with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, playing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor. Epstein continued to hone his skills and went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. He studied under some of the most renowned pianists of the time, including Vladimir Horowitz and Rudolf Serkin. Epstein's talent and dedication to music were evident, and he quickly became one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. Epstein's career took off in the 1980s, and he began performing in major concert halls around the world. He was known for his technical prowess and his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he played. Epstein's repertoire was vast, and he was equally comfortable playing the works of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. One of Epstein's most significant performances was at the 1986 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow.
