Role:ConductorJeffrey Grossman is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a harpsichordist, pianist, and conductor. Born in New York City in 1964, Grossman grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. His father was a violinist and his mother was a pianist, and they encouraged him to pursue music as a career. Grossman began his musical training on the piano at the age of six and quickly showed a talent for the instrument. He studied with several renowned pianists, including Rosina Lhevinne and John Perry, and won numerous competitions and awards as a young pianist. However, he soon became interested in the harpsichord, a keyboard instrument that was popular in the Baroque era. Grossman began studying the harpsichord in earnest in his late teens and quickly became one of the leading harpsichordists of his generation. He studied with Gustav Leonhardt, one of the most famous harpsichordists of the 20th century, and also worked with other prominent musicians such as Christopher Hogwood and Trevor Pinnock. In the early 1990s, Grossman began performing as a soloist and chamber musician, and quickly gained a reputation for his virtuosic playing and sensitive interpretations. He has performed at many of the world's leading concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Grossman has also been a frequent guest artist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors, including Leonard Bernstein, Sir Simon Rattle, and Daniel Barenboim. In addition to his work as a performer, Grossman is also an accomplished conductor. He has conducted many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. He is known for his innovative programming and his ability to bring out the best in his musicians. Grossman has won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career.
