Kazumasa Matsumoto is a renowned classical music artist from Japan, known for his exceptional skills as a pianist and conductor. Born on October 11, 1948, in Tokyo, Japan, Matsumoto showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Matsumoto's early education in music began at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Toshio Nakamura. He later went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he received a scholarship to study under the tutelage of Adele Marcus. Matsumoto's talent as a pianist was recognized early on in his career, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most promising young musicians in Japan. He won several prestigious awards, including the first prize at the Japan Music Competition in 1969 and the first prize at the International Piano Competition in Geneva in 1971.
