Eduard Schmieder is a renowned classical music artist who has made significant contributions to the world of music as a violinist, conductor, and educator. Born on August 20, 1959, in Odessa, Ukraine, Schmieder showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. He was born into a family of musicians, and his father, Alexander Schmieder, was a well-known violinist and conductor. Schmieder's early musical education was under the guidance of his father, who recognized his son's talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He attended the Odessa Conservatory, where he studied with renowned violinist David Oistrakh. Schmieder's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age, and he quickly established himself as a rising star in the classical music world. After completing his studies at the Odessa Conservatory, Schmieder continued his education at the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied with Yuri Yankelevich. He also studied with Nathan Milstein, one of the most celebrated violinists of the 20th century. Schmieder's training under these renowned musicians helped him develop his unique style and technique, which would later become his trademark. Schmieder's career as a violinist took off in the 1980s, and he quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and musicality. He won several prestigious awards, including the First Prize at the All-Union Violin Competition in Moscow in 1983 and the First Prize at the International Violin Competition in Sion, Switzerland, in 1984. Schmieder's performances as a soloist with orchestras around the world were highly acclaimed, and he became known for his virtuosic playing and expressive interpretations. He has performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the Moscow Philharmonic, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. In addition to his career as a soloist, Schmieder has also established himself as a conductor and educator. He has conducted orchestras in Europe, Asia, and the United States, and has served as the music director of several orchestras, including the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra. Schmieder's passion for music education has led him to establish several music schools and programs around the world. He founded the International Center for Music at Park University in Kansas City, Missouri, where he serves as the artistic director and conductor of the Park International Center for Music Orchestra. He has also established the Eduard Schmieder International Violin Masterclass, which attracts young violinists from around the world to study with him. He was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland by the President of Russia in 2009, and was named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government in 2011. He has also been awarded the Medal of Honor by the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Medal of Honor by the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture. In addition to his performing and teaching career, Schmieder is also a prolific recording artist. He has recorded over 30 albums, including works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky.
