Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1975, Kawamura began playing the piano at the age of three and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She studied with some of the most respected teachers in Japan, including Hiroko Nakamura and Kazuko Yasukawa, and went on to attend the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo. Kawamura's talent was recognized early on, and she won numerous awards and competitions as a young pianist. In 1993, she won first prize at the Japan Music Competition, and in 1995 she was awarded the prestigious Idemitsu Music Award. These early successes paved the way for a career as a professional pianist, and Kawamura began to perform regularly in Japan and abroad. One of Kawamura's most notable early performances was at the 1997 Prague Spring International Music Festival, where she played Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was a critical and popular success, and it helped to establish Kawamura as a rising star in the classical music world. Over the years, Kawamura has continued to perform at major venues and festivals around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Salzburg Festival.
