Born in Toronto, Canada, in 1965, Jackson grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a singer. From a young age, Jackson was exposed to music and developed a passion for it. Jackson began his musical journey by learning to play the clarinet at the age of nine. One of the highlights of Jackson's career came in 1995 when he was appointed as the principal clarinetist of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. This was a significant achievement for Jackson, as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra is one of the most prestigious orchestras in Canada. During his time with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Jackson also began to perform as a soloist.
