The South German Madrigal Choir is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over 70 years. The choir was founded in 1949 by conductor and composer, Professor Dr. Fritz Schieri, who was a pioneer in the field of choral music. The choir's early years were marked by a focus on Renaissance and Baroque music, with a particular emphasis on the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Under Schieri's leadership, the choir quickly gained a reputation for their impeccable musicianship and attention to detail. They performed extensively throughout Germany and Europe, earning critical acclaim and a devoted following. In the 1960s, the South German Madrigal Choir began to expand their repertoire to include more contemporary works, as well as music from other cultures. One of the highlights of the choir's early years was their performance at the 1958 World's Fair in Brussels, where they represented Germany and received widespread praise for their rendition of Bach's "St. Matthew Passion."
