Maestro David Robertson has been the driving force behind the orchestra's success. Born in Santa Monica, California, in 1958, Robertson began his musical career as a clarinetist before turning to conducting. He has held positions with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Lyon, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Under Robertson's leadership, the World Symphony Orchestra has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Sydney Opera House. The orchestra has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned soloists, including Yo-Yo Ma, Lang Lang, and Joshua Bell. One of the highlights of the World Symphony Orchestra's career was their performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The orchestra was invited to perform at the opening ceremony, which was watched by over a billion people around the world. The orchestra's performance of the Chinese national anthem, "March of the Volunteers," was particularly well-received, and the orchestra received widespread praise for their contribution to the ceremony.
