The Elmer Iseler Singers is a Canadian classical music ensemble that was founded in 1979 by the late Elmer Iseler, a renowned conductor and music educator. The ensemble is based in Toronto, Ontario, and is known for its exceptional performances of choral music from various periods and styles. Elmer Iseler was born in Port Colborne, Ontario, in 1928, and began his music career as a singer in the choir of his local church. He went on to study music at the University of Toronto, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 1952. Iseler then pursued further studies in choral conducting in the United States and Europe, and eventually returned to Canada to establish himself as a leading figure in the country's choral music scene. In 1997, they were awarded the National Choral Award by the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors, and in 2003, they received the Healey Willan Grand Prize for their outstanding contributions to Canadian choral music. They have also been nominated for several Juno Awards, Canada's top music award, and have won several awards from the Canadian Music Centre for their performances of Canadian music. The ensemble's current members include some of Canada's most talented choral singers, many of whom have extensive experience performing with other leading choral ensembles and orchestras.
