Thomas D. Rossin was born on May 15, 1965, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Rossin showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Rossin's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and later studied at the Juilliard School in New York City. Rossin's talent and dedication to his craft quickly became apparent, and he began to gain recognition as a rising star in the classical music world. In 1985, Rossin made his debut as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3. The performance was a resounding success, and Rossin was praised for his technical skill and musicality. This performance marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career for Rossin. Over the years, Rossin has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Vienna Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors, including Herbert von Karajan, Leonard Bernstein, and Claudio Abbado. One of Rossin's most memorable performances was his 1991 performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The performance was recorded and later released as a live album, which went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Classical Album. In addition to his work as a soloist, Rossin is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Throughout his career, Rossin has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to classical music. In 1998, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in classical music. He has also been awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Legion of Honor by the French government. Despite his many accomplishments, Rossin remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and record regularly, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of his generation.
