Ellen McAteer is a Canadian soprano who has established herself as a prominent figure in the world of classical music. Born in Toronto, Canada, McAteer grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. She attended the University of Toronto, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance. She then went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, England, where she received a Master of Music degree in opera performance. McAteer's career as a professional opera singer began in 2006, when she made her debut with the Canadian Opera Company in the role of Barbarina in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." Since then, she has performed with numerous opera companies and orchestras around the world, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, the Scottish Opera, the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. One of McAteer's most notable performances was in the role of Susanna in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 2012. Her performance was praised by critics for its "sparkling clarity" and "effortless grace." McAteer has also received critical acclaim for her performances in other Mozart operas, including "Don Giovanni" and "Così fan tutte." In addition to her work in opera, McAteer is also a sought-after concert performer. She has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic.
