The Salzburg Mozarteum Chamber Academy Orchestra is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1956 in Salzburg, Austria. The orchestra was established by the Mozarteum Foundation, which was created in 1880 to promote the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and other classical composers. The Salzburg Mozarteum Chamber Academy Orchestra is made up of talented musicians from around the world, many of whom are students or alumni of the Mozarteum University of Salzburg. The orchestra is led by a rotating cast of conductors, including renowned maestros such as Iván Fischer, Sir Neville Marriner, and Christoph Poppen. Over the years, the Salzburg Mozarteum Chamber Academy Orchestra has become known for its exceptional performances of classical music, particularly the works of Mozart. The orchestra has toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas, performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and music festivals. One of the highlights of the Salzburg Mozarteum Chamber Academy Orchestra's history was its performance at the Salzburg Festival in 2006, which marked the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth. The orchestra performed a series of concerts featuring some of Mozart's most beloved works, including his Symphony No. 40 and his Piano Concerto No. 21. In addition to its performances, the Salzburg Mozarteum Chamber Academy Orchestra has also received numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 2010, the orchestra was awarded the Echo Klassik award for its recording of Mozart's Piano Concertos Nos. 20 and 21 with pianist Lars Vogt. The orchestra has also been praised for its recordings of works by other classical composers, including Beethoven, Haydn, and Schubert.
