From a young age, Hertzberg showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Hertzberg's talent was quickly recognized, and she began studying at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki at the age of nine. She continued her studies there for ten years, under the tutelage of renowned violinists such as Kaija Saarikettu and Pekka Kuusisto. In 2004, Hertzberg was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music in London, where she studied with Rodney Friend and Jan Repko.
