Hanchien Lee is a Taiwanese classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born on December 28, 1985, in Taipei, Taiwan, Lee showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents, both music lovers, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Lee's early musical education was guided by her mother, who was a piano teacher. She received her first formal training at the age of six, studying with renowned Taiwanese pianist Ching-Yun Hu. Under Hu's guidance, Lee developed a strong foundation in classical piano technique and repertoire. She also participated in numerous piano competitions, winning several awards and accolades. She enrolled at the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied with Yoheved Kaplinsky and earned her Bachelor of Music degree in 2007. During her time at Juilliard, Lee won several prestigious awards, including the Gina Bachauer Piano Scholarship and the Arthur Rubinstein Prize. After completing her undergraduate studies, Lee continued her education at the Yale School of Music, where she earned her Master of Music degree in 2009. Lee's career as a concert pianist began to take off in the years following her graduation from Yale. She has also given recitals in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the National Concert Hall in Taipei.
